Mira! Este cipote tiene una flexibilidad "de miedo"

Esas son las palabra de Luis el entrenador de Victor cuando fui a recogerlo hoy a su clase de gimnasia. El coach estaba instruyendo a Victor Alfredo junto a otros dos jovenes de alrededor de 18 anios haciendo todos el mismo ejercicio. Al ir saliendo del gimnasio Victor me dijo a modo de confidencia que una de las "ninias" habian llegado a verlo hacer ejercicio y que una de ellas habia dicho que que "ninio mas bello", pero papi...a mi no me gusta que me digan cosas asi. Tuve que intervenir en busqueda de honestidad, preguntandole: De verdad no te gusta? a mi me gustaria que me dijeran ese tipo de cosas. A lo que sonriendo me dijo, bueno me gusta un poquito.
Victor, es normal que te guste que las ninias te halaguen, pero tienes que mantener la humildad y saber que Dios te ha regalado la habilidad que tienes, le dije. A lo que Victor contesto, es cierto y Dios puede hacer mejores "estrellas" que yo.
Este es un reporte de un orgulloso padre, que no puede dejarle ver a Victor cuan orgulloso esta cuando otros lo halagan.

Business Sense--Learning how to sell coffee

One day Alfredo went to his monthly Father-Son event with Victor where "the boys" learned how to change the oil of a car. Can you imagine seeing 12 pairs of shoes sticking out from under the car! What a scene!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, while Mom was in Costa Rica training trainers how to teach the Bible, Valerie was with Haidy (the babysitter) who happens to know the entire process of taking coffee beans directly from the bush to the cup!
Valerie sharing with Mom on the phone: Mom, Haidy is very smart. She knows a lot. You do too, Mom. I am learning so much!
Over the next week, during each phone call the kids began to expound of their business and marketing plans.

• Valerie: We have no more coffee bushes at our house, but where we built ropes course stuff at the camp by our house has a whole forest full of coffee plants. We can buy their coffee beans and then sell the coffee to get our money back.
• Victor: Daddy, can you ask the computer for a good logo for our coffee... we want to call it: Haidy's Coffee (according to Victor one needs only to "ask the computer" and it will give you answers).
• Valerie: We want to sell the little bags of coffee at the small store up the road. We will give the money to Haidy since she is the one who taught us.
• Alfredo: The coffee, by the way, is delicious!

What a thrill it is for me to hear the daily reports of my family's adventures!

Valerie and Victor's sleep over!

Last night was a historic night for the Umana Anderson Family. It was the first night we all slept in a different place at the same time.

The Carrions have made it to the hall of fame, hosting Valerie in her second sleep over in her life time and Gaby hosting Victor!

Alfredo's Men's Bible Study Meeting

It is wonderful to see how God has given Alfredo an amazing group of men with whom to meet.

As Alfredo and the men say: These men are in pursuit of the Lord.

Thank you God for such a ban of brothers as this!

La visita de Valerie con una amiguita

Tu hija esta en este momento partiendo en uno de los Buses de Pinares con su amiguita para tener un helado, estar en su casa y la mami les traera de regreso mas tarde. Valeria estaba toda entusiasmada y nerviosa con su nueva experiencia. Esta manana preparo un regalo para su amiguita, uno para la hermanita menor y un regalo para sus padres (o sea le closet de regalos fue muy util), como siempre Heidy estuvo apoyando los inventos de Valerie y empaco los presentes. No puedo creer los alcances de Valerie y su cuidado por los detalles como llevar presentes en su visita. Solo para que te sientas parte de estas nuevas aventuras. ILY

Exporting Honduran tee shirts!

We enjoyed a visit from my friend Kim Budd to Honduras over the summer and she purchased some tee shirts of our favorite Honduran soccer team while she was here! Faithfully, she gave them to her nephews (seen in the pictures) who are wearing them proudly!

Kim is a very talented woman, gifted in helping to create memories, something our entire family enjoyed while she was visiting us in Honduras in August and helping us put together our photo albums.
Praise God for her faithfulness in prayer for our family and her friendship with me personally!

Valerie's prayer meeting

While Mommy was away studying at Trinity, the Lord was working in Valerie's heart to start a small prayer group at school. She told me on the phone (after some coaxing) that two girls had fought and so she suggested they pray. Suddenly they made up and so the three of them decided to start a prayer meeting during recess.
She mentioned that one by one the other girls began to join in until finally all 9 girls in the class participate.
After a couple of weeks, they started to refer to her as the pastor of the group!
We discussed what she'd do once she left to spend Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh and she said she had chosen several girls to take charge of the group in her absence.
Alas, however, once she returned she discovered that the girls stopped meeting since they would only listen to Valerie.
The cover to the right is their prayer book where they have their names and pictures and contact info and they write down their prayer requests.

Let's see if the group re-starts after school begins again in Jan. 2009!

Mom is trying not to be too obvious in studying her daughter's leadership capabilities!
